Greetings from Olsson Associates
This is the last month you'll be greeted by my mug in your inbox.
As I mentioned last month, we recently brought Michael Ellsberry onboard to serve as office leader for our Denver Civil Operations. I'm still here at Olsson Associates, but I'm shifting my focus to work with some of Olsson's major growth initiatives and clients specific to these areas, including our aviation business, water/wastewater, and North Dakota operations.
A new Mike will greet you next month with his own words and ideas. It's been fun sharing Olsson stories and projects with you through Perspectives, but I'm confident Mike will continue staying in touch with each of you.

Olsson Helps Oil and Gas Companies Cross the Finish Line for November 10 Deadline
By Stuart Francone, Vice President and Senior Project Manager
Olsson is busy evaluating more than 500 oil and gas tank battery sites in the Denver-Julesberg Basin in northern Colorado as a big deadline approaches for many oil and gas companies. The SPCC rule includes requirements for oil spill prevention, preparedness, and response to prevent oil from reaching navigable waters.

Energy Audits Make It Easy To Be Green
Olsson has provided clients numerous types of energy audits throughout the course of the firm's history. These audits can be conducted on entire buildings or on specific equipment and systems.
"Audits allow us to go through our client's facilities and get familiar with their systems," said Jim Fricke, Mechanical/Electrical team leader. "In addition, we develop a relationship with their personnel and a trust that we are all on the same team to help them resolve their issues."
Several phases are associated with the audits. The first phase is to become familiar with how the systems in each building operate. This familiarization process includes holding meetings with the maintenance personnel who help identify current system operation issues.

FEATURED PROJECT
Stormwater, Environmental, and Landscape Improvements During Walmart Expansion
A Walmart store expansion project in Hermantown, Minnesota, is addressing and overcoming several environmental concerns by completely redesigning the store's stormwater treatment facilities and its surrounding landscape.
The existing facilities aimed to reduce the concentration of pollutants found in urban runoff. These facilities also sought to reduce the thermal load through infiltrating and mixing with groundwater before discharging to the adjacent stream, Miller Creek, which is a designated trout stream that flows into adjacent Lake Superior.
