Greetings from Olsson Associates

With safety and compliance among our top priorities, we are proud to announce that we have recently accredited many of our testing labs, including our lab in Olathe. We have attained several accreditations from concrete, masonry, and grout testing to soils and aggregate testing.

This month we're showcasing one of the projects that used one of our testing labs. Our Special Inspections team played an important role in the Ransom Memorial Hospital renovation and provided testing services before and while excavating the building. They also tested pavement subgrades, wall backfill, asphaltic concrete, and structural concrete.

Switching gears, we are eager to welcome David Junk and Paul Moore to our Kansas City office, where both will work as members of our Transportation team.

We also are excited to share news about two of our projects that received awards here in Kansas City through the American Public Works Association. It's an honor to have our work recognized, and we share these awards with our clients, as you'll see in the photos below.

If you have questions or would like more information on the information shared in this e-newsletter, or about any of our services, don't hesitate to give me a call.

Testing Labs Recently Accredited

http://oaconsulting.com/perspectives/olathe-lab-11.jpgMany of Olsson's testing labs were recently accredited as a Cement and Concrete Reference Laboratory (CCRL), an AASHTO Materials Reference Laboratory (AMRL), and a U.S. Army Corps of Engineers accredited laboratory. CCRL accreditation encompasses concrete, masonry, and grout testing, and AMRL accreditation encompasses soils and aggregate testing. CCRL and AMRL accreditation are part of the national AASHTO certification process, which allows us to work on Department of Transportation (DOT) and Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) projects. The Corps certification allows us to work on federally funded projects.

Our accredited labs include Olathe, Kansas; Lincoln and Omaha, Nebraska; Des Moines, Iowa; and Sioux City, Iowa.

If your project requires material and laboratory testing services, Olsson can perform these tests in accordance with the recognized standards and to the requirements of two of the most recognized agencies for quality control. If your project requires testing provided by an AASHTO or Corps certified laboratory or if you desire more information about the process and procedures by which we obtained our accreditation, please do not hesitate to contact us.

63-20 Hike!
A Proven Play from the Public/Private Development Partnership Finance Playbook
By Courtney Dunbar

http://oaconsulting.com/perspectives/football_hike.jpgFor even the most visionary communities, project financing can be difficult to obtain. Add to this the fact that many projects are speculative, such as industrial parks, or have little equity to cost of development, like conference centers, public parking structures, or mixed-use developments, and the process can leave the community feeling "sacked" in its efforts.

63-20 corporations provide an option to bring both private development funding and public financing together to allow automatic access to municipal bond financing, without volume cap allocation restrictions, for project finance via the public/private partnership. READ MORE
