NATIONAL ICE HOCKEY CHAMPIONSHIP HITS HATFIELD TOWNSHIP

The Hatfield Ice Dogs Under 18 AA Team was recently honored by the Hatfield Township Board of Commissioners at their public meeting on April 13th. Hatfield Township Board of Commissioner's President Tom Zipfel presented an official resolution to head coach Tom Laessig. Coach Laessig introduced the individual members of the team as residents, staff, family and friends applauded.  The Ice Dogs were honored for claiming the National Championship in Cleveland where they defeated teams from California, Wisconsin, Colorado, Massachusetts and Ohio. They won the championship after defeating Team Toledo in the final game, 7-3. The team achieved a season record of 52-7-2. Several of the players were at Nationals two years ago but had lost in the playoff round. The players had come into this season vowing to make it to the Nationals again. When not on the road the Ice Dogs play their home games at Hatfield Ice. Congratulations again to the team for their efforts and victory!!!!

NATIONAL PRESCRIPTION DRUG

TAKE-BACK DAY

The Hatfield Township Police Department is proud to be a participating member in a collaborative effort with the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), state and local law enforcement, in the National Prescription Take-Back Initiative. The National Take-Back Initiative provides an opportunity for the public to surrender expired, unwanted or unused pharmaceutical controlled substances and other medications for destruction. These drugs are a potential source of supply for illegal use and pose an unacceptable risk to public health and safety.

The event will take place from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 30th and is available free of charge to all area residents. This is a confidential and anonymous service. Prescription and over the counter medications accepted, i.e. sold dosage tablets, capsules, liquids/creams (in containers). Intravenous solutions, injectables, and and needles will not be accepted. Illicit substances such as marijuana or methamphetamines are not a part of this initiative.

SHARE AND SWAP

As you thin your perennials or dig seedlings, pot up your excess plantings and bring them to the 3rd Annual Plant Exchange, hosted by the Hatfield Township Shade Tree Commission, to share with others and, if you want, to swap for something new. The Exchange will be 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Saturday, May 21, on the Township municipal Building side lawn (grass and sidewalk areas closest to Chestnut Street). If it's raining, the Exchange will move into the building's Community Room, which has its outside entrance right at this side of the building.
