Hatfield Township's 2nd Annual Five & Dime Run and Walk

Registrations are now being accepted for a race with both five and ten-mile courses, a five-mile walk option, a one-mile fitness walk and a 1/2-mile kids' race, offered by Hatfield Township and ACT Sports Management on Sunday, April 10. Awards will be presented to the top male and female winners within a number of age brackets, to masters winners, and to the best-placing runner living in Hatfield Township. The main race, beginning at 9 a.m., directly follows the kids race at 8:45 a.m. Activities, rain or shine, start and end in the Hatfield Community Park, 2500 Chestnut Street, Hatfield, with the course itself winding through residential streets and through parks. Pre-registration by March 20, which guarantees the registrant an event tee shirt, is $22. Registration after March 22 and the day of the race is $30. The $10 fee for the one-mile fitness walk and the kids' race includes an event tee shirt while supplies last. The race is on a flat and fast wheel-measured course, with water stations, refreshments, door prizes and goodie bags for registrants and a DJ to emcee event highlights. Booths by health or fitness businesses will operate near the start/finish line for racers and spectators alike. The Five and Dime Races may run singularly, or as one of three races in the 2011 Hat Trick Race Series. Sponsors include Hatfield Quality Meats, Vinny's Pizzarama, Lansdale Hospital and Hatfield Chamber of Commerce. Register online at www.active.com.

NOTICE: TO THE CUSTOMERS OF NORTH PENN WATER AUTHORITY

Annual inspection and flushing of fire hydrants increase public safety by insuring that hydrants will function when necessary. Flushing of hydrants also improves water quality. The Authority will be flushing and inspecting hydrants in the distribution system during the next seven weeks according to the following tentative schedule (schedule may change due to weather or other related conditions):

April 3rd through April 19

HATFIELD TOWNSHIP

Flushing will be done at night between the hours of 8:00 p.m. and 4:00 a.m. and during the day between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m.  As a result of this procedure, some customers may notice a minor discoloration in the water and/or lower than normal water pressure.

If discoloration occurs, run the cold water for a few minutes. If the water does not clear up, turn off the water for 10 to 20 minutes and try the procedure again. If a problem persists, customers should contact the Authority office at (215) 855-3617, between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m.
