Parents get actively involved in the recess debate.

"Instead of working off stress by running around the playground with their friends midway through the school day, millions of children are confined to classrooms by policies that have cut or eliminated recess to expand prep time for standardized tests."   For nearly 2 decades, schools across the nation have struggled with the dilemma waging recess against academics.  Some schools cut back on recess with little notice or push back from parents.  But that seems to be changing, spurred by the nationwide debate over students' participation in physical activity which stems from the concern over children's health and the lack of physical activity opportunities.  The public health issue is gaining support from parents, legislators and public health advocates alike.
