WHAT WORKS: School wide Discipline
|
In an election year it is important to acknowledge that for approximately 20 years, the Annual Gallup Poll of the Public's Attitudes Toward the Public Schools has identified "lack of discipline" as one of the most serious problems facing the nations educational system.
Some teachers and administrators often agree with parents that discipline issues results in a loss of instructional time and thus interrupt learning. Other schools however, it seems have found the magic key to orderly classrooms and a safe emotional and physical environment for learning.
Which school wide practices lead to disarray and which ones lead to order in student discipline. In this article we will consider resulting in school wide disciplinary practices and student behavior outcomes will be reviewed in this article.

Peaceful Playgrounds Red, yellow, blue and orange shapes, letters and numbers will greet
students at McKinley Elementary when they return to school this week.
With paint, a plan and some creativity, York City School District
teachers spent their last day of summer creating a playground for the
children with paint and stencils.
"The kids really didn't have
much to do at recess," said Eric Schlosser, a school counselor who
organized the venture. About a dozen staff members and a handful of
neighborhood kids helped paint about 30 colorful games on the ground
Friday. But the playground painting isn't just about fun.
