Lead Guide Mike Hamill called in with an update:
Winds were too high at
Patriot Hills to allow a flight in on the 10th. Same was true today
but the winds have declined and visibility was good. Let's see what tomorrow brings.
So, with no flying
today, the crew headed out to some penguin rookeries near Punta.
The plane's packed and
everyone's ready to go to work. As soon as the cross winds die down, they'll be
off. It's 4 hour flying from Punta to Patriot Hills. Then, about another hour
in a smaller plane over to Vinson base camp. This is one of the most
logistically complicated of the Seven Summits. But, with a little patience, it
will all come together.
We'll be back with you
when we have additional updates.
