TALL SHIPS FESTIVAL
Dear  ,

It's that time of the year again, when Dana Point Harbor becomes home to a fleet of seven tall ships and a weekend long festival packed with events for the whole family to enjoy!

Tour The Pilgrim and 6 Other Authentic Tall Ships!
Tall Ship Pilgram

The Ocean Institute's 2010 Tall Ships Festival is coming up the weekend of September 10-12, Friday evening, and all day Saturday and Sunday.

Again this year there will be wonderful opportunities for the family to explore an entire fleet of authentic tall ships, learn nautical history and maybe even meet some pirates.  There will be Sea Chantey Concerts (great sea faring music on stage at Baby Beach all day Saturday and Sunday), a Sunset Parade of Tall Ships on Friday evening featuring cannon battles outside the Harbor,  plus way, way too may other activities and events to list.

Click here to see the complete events schedule or check out the list of Quick Links to the left.

We didn't want to miss out on the fun so this year The Dana Point Boaters Association (DPBA) will man a display booth both days in the Art & Craft Show, the food and artisan area on the grass at Baby Beach!  So come on down, make some new friends and meet lots of other boaters, including the Association Officers and Directors.  Hang out a bit and and find out what's going on in the Harbor.  There's news on land and water side Revitalization, the new design for the Embarcadero, slip rates and much more.  You can renew your membership or sign up (remember, dues have been waived for 2010) and let us know your views.  This helps us represent you.  The DPBA is an all volunteer boater organization and we're always looking for volunteers so if you're interested it would be a great opportunity to explore that too.  By the way, we hope to have a limited supply of free food / drink passes to the event food vendors we'll be passing out to members in good standing, one per membership.  What a deal!

Here's another way you can really help!  If you can afford to spend a couple hours to help man our booth your fellow boaters will appreciate it.  (That's not exactly work is it?)  Please just reply to this email and let us know what day(s) and hours you would like to serve.

Oh, one other thing, there are no hassles with tickets and badges at the Tall Ships festival.  The Grass Park Activities, Chantey Concert, Art & Craft Show, Food Court, Living History encampments and Vendor area are all FREE!  Click here to learn about other festival activity prices, including exploration of the tall ships themselves, with proceeds benefiting the Ocean Institute.

Mission Statement:
The Dana Point Boaters Association advocates the preservation, enhancement, and expansion of affordable recreational boating resources.  We work to improve the family friendly atmosphere and breadth of water-oriented actives we all enjoy in the harbor.  We serve as the watchdog by ethically protecting the rights of all boaters and representing them when collective action is most effective.  We actively gather information and communicate our views to educate boaters, external interests, and public officials.  We build and maintain constructive, working relationships to achieve common goals with other harbor stakeholders.  We will pass on our harbor to the next generation of recreational boaters in better condition than it is today.
Questions should be directed by email to ([email protected]).  Or call us at (949) 485-5656 and leave a voice mail and we'll get back to you soon.
