BoatsHarbor Watch Coming To Dana Point

As announced in a news article in the current edition of the Dana Point Times, there's a wonderful new program now being set up here in our harbor!  Click here to read the article, or click here to read the entire newspaper.  The article explains that the upcoming Dana Point Harbor Watch program will be a lot like the Neighborhood Watch programs many of us have participated in within the neighborhoods where we live.  As with Neighborhood Watch, the Harbor Watch goals of will be threefold: 1) reduce crime, 2) improve public safety, 3) foster community development.

Getting this off the ground is something we've been very interested in seeing happen for a very long time.  While boaters are the major beneficiaries, hence DPBA's strong interest, the efforts and benefits don't end at the water's edge.  Far from it!  Everyone in the harbor, including merchants, yacht clubs and services providers, as well as harbor and marina managers need to get involved too... and will also benefit from what is a community wide program.

So then, we are extremely pleased that Captain Mike O'Connor, a long time boater and owner of Mariner Yacht and Ship Brokerage, has agreed to step up and provide the leadership and resources required to launch Harbor Watch.  This is a significant commitment as administrative follow through is also needed to make sure this program is successful for many years to come.  Thanks again Mike!

Harbor Watch is far, far, far from a one person job of course.  So please contact Mike directly, right away, to see how you can help.  Mike's office number is 949.429.BOAT (2628).

Best regards,
