SEPTEMBER 24, 2009
Greetings!

This is a friendly reminder that tonight is a extremely important meeting that all Dana Point Boaters really need to attend.  This meeting is open to everyone and it will be held staring at 7:00 PM in the Cove Room (building closest to street) at the Sailing and Events Center.

Tonight we'll get up to speed on the latest status and get geared up for the Coastal Commission hearing on the Harbor Revitalization Plan on October 8th.  We'll cover the many critical boating issues that are both closed and open, talk about how the hearing process works and explore talking points that we boaters can use in our 2 or 3 minute public comments.

At risk of stating the obvious, this is the Coastal Commission Hearing we've been getting ready for, for almost 3 years!

The full Commission needs to hear what we boaters think needs to happen to make the "revitalized" Dana Point Harbor good for boating.  Rest assured, they have heard and will be hearing all about the needs of  "regional visitors" (the non marine merchants' customers) that the many special interests are so concerned about.

Please be there tonight!!!

Sincerely,
The Board of Directors
Your Dana Point Boaters Association

DPBA - Over 500 dues paying boaters who care very much about our beautiful harbor

QUICK PIT TAX UPDATE

The 3rd and last County requested delay is expiring.  On October 6th the conclusive meeting will be held on the 2008-2009 PIT appeals will be heard and we anticipate being able to announce findings to participating Dana Point Boater Association Members some weeks following that.

The deadline for filing appeals for the 2009-2010 tax year is now passed and there is a very substantial participation by Dana Point Boater Association members in this process again this year.

For 2009-2010 we are again being ably represented by DePasquale, Kelley and Company (DKC).  As was the case with the two prior year appeals, it will be several months before we hear anything back.  Then individuals will start receiving those confusing and scary form letters again.

Rest assured though that, as in the prior two years, DKC will be on it and that we'll keep you informed as future events and milestones dictate.
