Tomorrow Night's General Membership Meeting Thursday, January 22, 2009

We sure hope you join your fellow DPBA members for our 2009 kick-off meeting tomorrow evening Thursday, January 22, 2009 at 7:00PM.

We're planning a jam-packed agenda with some important topics, including a briefing on the specifics of the recent P I Tax appeal decision.  Sean Kelley of Depasquale, Kelly & Company will be present to answer all your questions; plus we'll be soliciting your input regarding possible next steps.  Note that Sean has personally represented DPBA boaters throughout the lengthy but highly successful 2007 P I tax appeal process so you'll be hearing the latest, straight from the source!

As you've likely heard, there has been a 60% tax reduction for those boaters who appealed in 2007, and those who participated in this DPBA initiative should have received revised assessments reflecting this adjustment by now.  But there are some other surprise benefits for 2008, plus other possible future benefits that we'll speak to at the meeting.

During another interactive presentation, we'll be asking for feedback regarding DPBA sponsored recommendations for changes to the Harbor landside plan as to the location of the proposed commercial parking facilities, marine retail store and related infrastructure.  We're scheduled to meet with Brad Gross and his team the next day so this topic really couldn't be more timely!

Last and certainly not least, this is your chance to help shape the plans and actions of your boaters association during 2009.  So please make it a point to attend, visit with many of your fellow boaters and speak out as we head into a very busy year of Association activities.

As usual, the meeting will start promptly at 7 PM, at St. Edwards Church, the "church on the hill", at 33926 Calle La Primavera in Dana Point, 92629.
Petition To The California Coastal Commission
We think you will strongly agree that the 11 points featured on our new petition to the California Coastal Commission are near and dear to the hearts of all recreational users of Dana Point Harbor, especially boaters.  So please take a minute to join in the fight.

Is this petition a lot of work?  Not at all!  We've worked hard to make your input really easy!  Simply log onto http://DanaPointBoaters.org/CCCPetition.html, load your contact information and hit the "send" button.  It'll take a couple minutes max and we'll do the rest.

Note that we'll be delivering each petition directly to the Commission and need a strong response from the boating community.  So thanks in advance for taking this small step to help guide our harbor's future and support your fellow boaters!
