Greetings!
Four years. 48 months. 1460 days.
Hopefully I can stop myself before I start sounding like a cast-off from "Rent." Still I must admit it's kind of surprising that A: four years have gone by so fast, and B: it's only been four years.
People have asked me on several occasions why I started Simplex-IT. I don't think that they're asking me because they want to hear something particularly brilliant. Mostly just curious.
Wish I had an answer that suited me consistently every day. I've never been particularly driven to own large sections of the world, nor have I ever had any overwhelming desire to become particularly rich or powerful or whatever term you wish to use.
But I gotta tell ya, for the most part, it's been a blast. The names have changed, but I am working with some pretty cool people here. And we've developed some great relationships with our customers.
We've also had the chance to help out the community. I like to think of our monthly Lunchinars as an example of being able to market and educate at the same time. Yeah, maybe it's a little self-serving, but I'm okay with that.
So how do we say thank you to the community? Well, one way we've been doing that has been to have our annual picnic. This will be the fourth year that we've had the picnic at our Worldwide International Headquarters, here in Hudson Ohio. And just like the other years, the focus will be on just having a good time, with some good people and good food. The Streetsboro, Hudson and Cuyahoga Falls Chambers of Commerce will once again join us as a networking meeting. Also the greater Cleveland PC users group has made this their annual picnic. As always, it's open to any and all.
Throughout this year of 2011, we have had several instances where people have heard of us through the Lunchinars, through this eNewsletter, and have told others about us. One of our friends told me recently about having a meeting in the office of her new boss, who had one of our business cards on her desk.
Another person attended several of our Lunchinars while unemployed. Now employed, he recommended us to his new employer.
Two of the three companies who took advantage of our "30-day out" contracts have come back to us, in one form or another. One IT director for a client took a similar position at another company, and guess who he called? Yep.
For the second year in a row, I was asked to serve on Level Platforms (the developer of our monitoring software and a leader in the Managed Service community) Board of Advisors.
I offered to share some of our marketing experience with other IT consulting companies during the web meeting. Well over 50 companies attended, from places such as Canada, France, and even New Zealand.
Not bad for four years. Not bad at all.
Bob
