Greetings!
Ok, where to go with this one? Today is essentially "Fear Sandwich Day," with Halloween last night and the elections tomorrow. And I'm not quite sure how to measure it. I mean, yesterday I was passing out candy to the various kids in the neighborhood (hint to future ToT'ers: we give out good candy. The big bars. Uh-huh). Having a good old time, with all the parents flying escort. In spite of not wearing a costume (I mean, have you seen me?) there are always a couple of kids that refuse to come near me, and either their parent or sibling gets the candy for them. Good times. The scary stuff is mostly just for fun. Now tomorrow is Election Day. And we've got essentially Accounts Payable versus Accounts Receivable. The AP folks say the only way to get through these times is to cut spending. Period. And the only way the AR folks can see through the future is to increase our revenues. Period. And the other side wants to eat your babies, create death squads, practice witchcraft, and generally be the most evil heinous kinda folks you've ever seen. Anywho, back to the real world. For the most part, we all actually do cooperate. Sorry, but it's true. And one of the tools we use is SharePoint, including the latest version, SharePoint Foundation Services 2010. That's the topic of our next Lunchinar. Click here for more.

SharePoint Foundation 2010: Simplex-IT's November Lunchinar
Ok, so SharePoint has changed its name more often than Elizabeth Taylor has changed husbands (ask your parents). And yet people just say...SharePoint. Or Elizabeth Taylor. These days, however, it's mostly SharePoint.
SharePoint has usually come in two flavors. The Services version, which was free with your Windows Server Licensing, and the Server version, which you had to pay for both the server software and the Client Access Licenses to connect to it with.
But what the heck is SharePoint, anyhow? The best way we know how to describe it is a tool to build and maintain online communities.

Microsoft's Big Easy is back!
| | Big Easy |
The Big Easy is a program from Microsoft that encourages customers to purchase software licensing through their Partners. How do they do this?
Simple (actually, it is). When a customer purchases Microsoft software through the partner, Microsoft will cut a check made out to the partner (Simplex-IT sounds good, don'cha think<g>?). The customer can then use that check for offset any other purchases of good and/or services from the Partner.

Microsoft & Facebook Collaborate on Docs.com
Social media sites have become a popular business tool, and many businesses use sites such as Facebook to increase their business. Facebook in collaboration with Microsoft, launched Docs.com. Users can create Word documents, Excel spreadsheets, or Powerpoint presentations right on Facebook or even upload their own documents from their computers to Facebook. Users can then share and collaborate online rather than composing, editing, saving, attaching to an email, and the reverse over and over again.
The risks of using the wrong version or sending off viruses are gone. While Google has been offering Google Docs for some time now, they have received some criticism for what their applications can and can't do. Microsoft could be hoping to move in take Google's place. Docs.com is currently limited to only accepted users because it is still only offered in the beta version. Here are some of the features that Docs.com offers:

| The newest member of the Simplex-IT Team... | | |

Hello,
My name is Stephen J. Skunta, 22, from Richfield, OH and I am the newest member of the Simplex-IT Team. I graduated from Revere High school as well as the Cuyahoga Valley Career Center in 2006 where I earned my Diploma, A+ Certification, Network+ Certification, and CCNA Training Certificate. I was able to receive numerous regional, state, and national awards in Network Design, Database Applications, and Hardware Troubleshooting through the Business Professionals of America and received 1st place at a Cisco Competition held at the University of Akron.
I am currently attending the University of Akron part-time driving towards a BS in Management of Informational Systems. I have been working in the IT Industry now for about 3 years but have been living on my computer since I was 10! (Nerdy I know) Outside of work I am a huge gamer, but believe it or not I do actually go outside to ride motocross, go camping, and to hang out with real friends. I have a lot of enthusiasm for anything IT and I look forward to growing and working with Simplex-IT! |
