Ok, so about two months ago, a potential client decided to stay with their current IT solution provider.  Ok, fine.  Not everyone will choose us (is it my breath?).

 

About a week ago, I happen to be talking with the gent.  He mentions that he's buying a number of replacement workstations.

 

"Are you taking advantage of the Big Easy Offer?"

 

"Didn't that expire?"

 

"Yup, but they've kicked off a new round of it, Big Easy 2.0."

 

"Didn't know that."

 

"Also, did you know that the new version of Small Business Server, SBS 2008, is being released in November?  Microsoft usually has good deals if you upgrade your workstations and servers around the same time."

 

"Nope, didn't know that either."

 

"Your current IT provider doesn't keep you informed about these things?"  (Ok, I was starting to get a bit smug here)

 

"Nope."

 

"Bummer."

SBS (Small Business Server) 2008 and EBS (Essential Business Server) 2008 have both been released to manufacturing.  The 12 November launch date is fast approaching!

 

Remember that SBS can handle up to 75 devices/ users.  EBS is a larger version that can handle up to 300 PCs.

 

Both are based on Windows Server 2008 and Exchange Server 2007.

If you were ever to our old web site, you would have been... well, unimpressed.   We really didn't have the time available to commit to making it look the way we wanted.  Well, we finally got around to it.  With help from Cyndee Duhon and from David Flynn Design (www.flynndesign.com), we're finally able to look at our web site (www.Simplex-IT.com) without that queazy feeling in our stomachs.

As we've mentioned before, the best time to find resources from Microsoft about their products is when they release their new versions.  SQL is no exception  Right now is the best time to start learning (if you haven't already) about SQL 2008.
