 Half Marathon Training Team

Midlothian Athletic Club has partnered with Run Strong to bring you a Summer half marathon training program. This is not only a Southside first, but this program will also be the only RRCA certified coaching program to be hosted by a fully equipped, and staffed fitness center!  No one in the Richmond area will have a program like this!

 

The training program prepares you in 12 to 13 weeks for a half marathon (that's 13.1 miles!!). The training will prepare you for two different races. The first one is the Patrick Henry Half Marathon which will be held on Saturday, August 27th in Ashland, Virginia.  This is a challenging course with a three hour time limit.  It is a great jaunt through the town of Ashland and begins and finishes at Poor Farm Park with lots of rolling hills throughout the countryside.  The second race is the Virginia Beach Rock N' Roll Half Marathon.  This is a much larger race that is held Labor Day Weekend, Sunday, September 4th.  It is a flat course that winds through the city of VA Beach with lots of bands and support along the way.  There is a four hour course time limit so it is definitely walker friendly. It is up to you to decide which race you want but it will be up to us to get you to the finish line!!  

 

Here's what's included:

*Saturday supported long runs.

*Weekly short run training sessions that includes pace training, hill repeats, fun scavenger hunts, contests, and dress up runs!

*At least two meetings a month with certified physical therapists, trainers, nutritionists, shoe clinics and more!

*Not one, but two MAC sponsored races are included in your fee.  The run for St. Jude 5K kicks off our long run sessions (100% of this race fee goes to St. Jude) and at the end of August there will be a 5K Mud Run. This run is perfect for Patrick Henry finishers and the tapering of VA Beach Half Marathoners.

*Invite your friends! This is a great opportunity for non-members to join MAC for a month at a special rate. They will receive all of the benefits of our training program as well as access to one of the best state of the art health and fitness clubs in the Midlothian/Richmond area.

*Access to Coach Todd and Coach Sarah's weekly blog filled with helpful tips and information to help you succeed. 

*The opportunity to meet new runners and enjoy the benefit of a supportive team environment.
