As the holiday season approaches with shopping trips a plenty, eating a quick healthy snack on the run is difficult.  Instead try this fall homemade granola recipe with roasted pumpkin seeds to keep your hunger under control and you out of temptation for a detour to the food court for an unhealthy snack!
 
Fall Granola
Makes 5 servings, 1 serving = 1 cup
-non stick cooking spray
-2 1/2 cups regular rolled oats
-1 cup whole bran cereal
-1/2 cup toasted wheat germ
-1/4 cup sliced almonds
-1/4 cup roasted pumpkin seeds
-1/2 applesauce
-1/3 cup honey
-1/4 tsp ground cinnamon
-1/3 cup dried fruit of your choice
Directions:
1. Spray a 15x10 1-inch baking pan with non stick cooking spray and set aside.  Preheat oven to 325 degrees.
2. In a large bowl, mix oats, bran, wheat germ, and almonds.
3. In a small bowl stir together applesauce, honey, and cinnamon.
4. Pour applesauce mixture over cereal mixture and stir together with a wooden spoon.
5. Spread granola evenly onto prepared pan and bake for 35 minutes, stirring occasionally.
6. Carefully stir in dried fruit and make for 3 to 5 more minutes or until golden brown.
 
The granola can me stored in an air tight container for up to two weeks.
 
Nutrition Information per serving(1 cup):
320 calories, 8g fat, 1g saturated fat, 0mg cholesterol, 7g Fiber, 10g Protein, 23% daily needs for Iron and Zinc

Our Fit Teen program will increase your overall conditioning and build self-confidence in a fun and safe environment. Sessions can include: Strength & Cardio, Flexibility & Balance, Agility & Coordination. Wear comfortable workout attire and sneakers with good, gripping soles. Bring a water bottle, motivation, and a great attitude! Parents are welcome to take the class! (FREE for members, $5 per session for non-members) Parents with children under 13 must remain on premises.
