I know it can be hard. Your siblings are in town. You visit the nursing home with them so you can all be together with your dad. The adult children are all jabbering, trying to catch up on each other's lives. Sure, you're physically in the room with your dad. But there's a good chance that your dad is completely left out of the conversation.
His hearing isn't bad, but the noise of several voices at once is too much. His worsening dementia makes a lot of commotion confusing. He doesn't complain, and he really does enjoy seeing everyone. When you are facing the changing needs of a family member or loved one, it can be difficult to see the whole picture. You tend to only see the situation or change, but when you step back, you may see many changes in your loved one and even in your relationship with them. The situation can also be very frustrating and leave you feeling alone and overwhelmed.

DJ Starr - Assistant Finance Manager
D.J. Starr is the assistant finance manager. He is entering his 6th year with ElderCare at Home. He is responsible for the accurate billing of our services and issuing fee checks to our independent contractors. He enjoys communicating with the clients and caregivers on daily basis. He is well respected by our staff and never hesitates to stop what he is doing to help someone out.
