| The Ipswich Ale Brewery |
|
Spring has sprung, and construction on the Ipswich Ale Brewery has been underway for the past few months! While we patiently await the opening of the new brewery, get familiar with the brewery by reading these unique facts about the project.
- The new structure will stand at 36,000 square feet, three times the size of our current space at 23 Hayward Street
- We are starting off on the right foot-literally! During construction, a large horseshoe was found in the exact spot that will be home to our new brewhouse. Talk about good luck...!
- Geothermal energy will be used to cool the building
- We are working very hard to carefully restore the original brick structure, which was built in 1880
- A storm water management system will be installed to help more efficiently absorb runoff
- Rumor has it gold bars were buried underneath the building long ago. We haven't come across any yet...

| Steamed Clams with Bacon & Beer! |
Ingredients:
8 slices bacon, chopped
1 small onion, chopped
4 cloves garlic, chopped
3 pounds Ipswich clams, scrubbed well
1. Fry bacon in a medium pot until soft and golden, about 4 minutes.
2. Add the onion and garlic and continue cooking until the bacon is nicely browned and the onion is tender, about 4 minutes longer.
3. Stir in the clams and add the beer. Cover the pot and steam the clams for 6 to 7 minutes, until they open. Discard any clams that do not open.
4. Stir gently to mix with the bacon, garlic, and onion, and serve immediately.
Enjoy this recipe with friends and family. Don't feel like cooking? Check out the Ipswich Shellfish Fish Market-they often use the Original Ale to steam clams in the summer!
