Special thanks to my husband Anthony for sharing the journey of learning about love and intimacy with me.

 INTRO TO SONG

This new song is based on the hold mebook Hold Me Tight by Dr. Sue Johnson.  It's about relationships!  Boy,  when we love with all our heart we make ourselves so vulnerable.  We're wide open for joy and wide open for hurt.  It's awesome when we connect and painful when we don't.  The pressures of life don't make it easy.  The demands of raising children, maintaining careers, and keeping the day to day things going make it very easy to lose connection and become emotionally disengaged.  When this happens we often react with anger, criticism and demands. "Most fights are protests over emotional disconnection, a longing to reconnect." However the effect is usually what I refer to as "THE EXACT OPPOSITE SYNDROME!"  The fighting or the distancing only reinforces our lack of connection.  Yikes!  We're in trouble now! So how do we communicate in a way that promotes a positive emotional connection?  How do we say "Hold Me" to our partners in a way that will make them take us back into their arms and give us the love we so desperately want from them!   Better read the book!

Five Star Review for Linda - "She sings like she means every word!"

"Unlike way too many female vocalists nowadays, Linda Bonadies seems always unpretentious, direct, and honest. As a performer, she's almost unique in her ability to deliver her messages without being melodramatic, shrill, vain, or egotistical. She doesn't have to resort to interpreting her work, bending notes all over the staff, showing off how high or low she can sing, or how loud, or how long. Like a seasoned instrumentalist, she's always right on key, on pitch, highly focused, and she can be very intense. Her flawless enunciation allows everyone to hear and understand the verse, and therefore get the message accurately, the first time, and every time. Since much of her repertoire is inspirational/motivational, shouldn't that be a requirement? As a performer who performs only her own work, WOW. She is breaking the gender barrier, and it's about time. Who says ladies can't be great composers? Linda Bonadies' excellent contributions clearly demonstrate the under-appreciated value of a classical education in music."

Songwriting Instruction for children and adults

With a Masters in Music Composition, Linda offers songwriting instruction for kids or adults.  Creating a song involves many skills.  Writing skills  - writing a song is like writing a story. You must have a strong developed theme where your thoughts are expressed in just a few short lines.  The use of metaphors, similes, and imagery add power to your message.  And of course rhyme is often important. Song Structure and Music Theory - link your lyrics to music within song structures that work.  Understand chord progressions and the marriage of melody, harmony and rhythm.  Performance - hone your performance skills. Record your song onto CD for it to last a lifetime.  If you do not have an instrument, Linda will set your lyrics and melodies to music.   $35 per hour

My inspiration
In my work as a songwriter I seek to follow these inspirational words of William Faulkner:

"I believe that man will not merely endure: he will prevail.  He is immortal, not because he alone among creatures has an inexhaustible voice, but because he has a soul, a spirit capable of compassion and sacrifice and endurance.  The poet's, the writer's duty is to write about these things. It is his privilege to help man endure by lifting his heart, by reminding him of the courage and honor and hope and pride and compassion and pity and sacrifice which have been the glory of his past.  The poet's voice need not merely be the record of man, it can be one of the props, the pillars to help him endure and prevail."  William Faulkner

Excerp from Book  - A Must Read!
"The demise of a marriage begins with a growing absence of responsive intimate interactions.  The conflict comes later.  As lovers we poise together delicately on a tightrope.  When the winds of doubt and fear begin blowing, if we panic and clutch at each other or abruptly turn away and head for cover, the rope sways more and more and our balance becomes even more precarious.  To stay on the rope, we must shift with each other's moves, respond to each other's emotions. As we connect, we balance each other."
