"I WANNA BE A TIGGER"

Inspired by Randy Pausch's "Last Lecture"

A Song By Linda Bonadies    Sept. 2008

DadRandy Pausch, a 47 year old professor who was diagnosed with Pancreatic Cancer, became famous for his final farewell.  His "Last Lecture" turned into a phenomenon viewed by millions over the internet. In the lecture Randy discussed how to achieve your childhood dreams. "You have to decide early on in life if you want to be a Tigger or an Eeyore."  He points out that you can choose to have an enthusiastic approach to life or not.

When I viewed "The Last Lecture", my Dad, Tony Halsey, was fighting his own battle against Pancreatic Cancer. He, like Randy, had an incredible love and zest for life.  One of his mottos (way before Nike) was "Life is not a Spectator Sport!" Randy said that brick walls are only put there to see how much you really want something.  Tony Halsey lived by the mantra "Keep On Plugging."

These two men lived with an enthusiastic, optimistic, and  "Tigger-like" approach to life.  They also faced death with courage and grace this past summer of 2008. Even in their last moments they continued to give and inspire.

Their families miss them incredibly but are inspired by the lives they led and the gifts they left behind.
