Happy New Year!
Congratulations to Angel for receiving her Certificate of Achievement from the NH Child Development Bureau. Angel is credentialed as an Associate Teacher level 2.
The NH Resource and Referral Network and the NH Association for the Education of Young Children have invested their time and resources in encouraging people to become credentialed. Professional development reflects the experience, activities, and learning in which teachers engage in that improve performance and provide the skills and knowledge to advance in their profession. Stay & Play requires staff to continually progress in their professional development through workshops, curriculum days, and college classes. This helps staff stay current with new research, and find innovative ways to work with young children.
Way to go Angel for accomplishing so much!!
Tax statements for child care payments will be available the first week of January. Please contact Laura if you need a statement.

Program News
Winter, Blue, Rectangles, & Alphabet
A new year has started and it sure is full of snow!! This month the children will be learning about the coldest season by taking a look at winter clothing, changes that occur during this season outdoors including snow and ice, and winter activities. Watch for snowflakes, icicles, snowmen, and mitten activities. The children will also be learning new winter theme fingerplays and songs during circle time.
Staff will also continue our Letter of the Week curriculum, focusing this month on letters P, Q, R, S, & T. Letter of the Week allows children opportunities for book handling, letter- sound awareness, letter recognition, and pre-reading and writing skills. Immersing children through letter crafts, dramatic play, poems, and games will build on all developmental domains. Watch for homemade Pretzels, Quilts, Rabbits, Straw paintings, and a Tea Party.
The color of the month is BLUE. If your child wears BLUE to school they will get to show it off at circle time. | |

Science and Literacy
Young children have a sense of wonder and curiosity about the world. While watching snails in an aquarium, blowing bubbles, using a flashlight to make shadows, or experimenting with objects to see what sinks or floats, children are busy finding out how the world works.
Because they are ready to learn about the everyday world, young children become highly engaged when allowed to explore their surroundings. They create strong and enduring memories of what they have experienced through their investigations. They readily acquire a rich vocabulary that they use to describe and share these memories. In this way, children's natural interest in science can be the foundation for developing language and literacy skills. In short, science gives children something to talk, read, and write about.
