Happy Thanksgiving!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Thanksgiving 2011 We hope you never tire of us thanking you for your support, but especially during this time of the year we want to express it again. We are having our best year ever and by the number of orders we are receiving it seems you are stocking up your meat for the winter, giving us another boost in sales. Fortunately we anticipated this increase and have been boosting production over the last few years.
As I am sure you already know, Allan and I have sold our home in anicipation of getting a 200 acre ranch on the river south of Pagosa Springs. We also leased a 125 acre ranch in Arboles, Colorado, which our son, Dusty, his wife Rachel, and their daughter Charlee are living on and taking care of for us. With both of our children now actively involved in our business we could not be happier or more grateful. It has been a great year for us, both from a personal and a business sense. We thank God for you and thank you so much for partnering with us, making it possible for us to pursue our dream of providing healthy meat to each and every one of you. Hopefully you are blessed with continued good health and prosperity as well.
Charlee Mae Higgins
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Charlee Mae Higgins And THE MOST IMPORTANT THING that we are grateful for is the birth of our granddaughter Charlee Mae Higgins on October 8th, weighing 6 pounds 12 ounces. Our son Dusty and his wife Rachel are loving being new parents while trying to adjust to all night feedings. Charlee is a beautiful, healthy baby and already weighs in at 8 1/2 pounds. Needless to say the other 3 grandchildren are loving having a new member in the family. Christmas promises to be even more fun this year.

Lisa is Cruising
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Lisa and Allan's mom are embarked on a Caribbean cruise this week, a long promised gift from her grandmother. Being away from her children is really tough on Lisa but this is a great opportunity to not only spend time with her grandmother but to also experience cruising. Like myself, Lisa is prone to motion sickness so we are praying for calm seas. She was tempted to cancel the trip after last week's threatened hurricane in that region. Hopefully she is fine and soaking up the sunshine even as you read this.
We will greatly miss Lisa while she is gone, but hope she is having a great time. Grandma and Grandpa are helping with the kids which is always a good time for us.
Arboles Ranch
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Arboles Ranch As I mentioned earlier, we leased a 125 acre ranch in Arboles, Colorado. It has a fair amount of irrigation water and our son Dusty has been busy channeling the water throughout the pastures. While we got a bit of a late start on it this summer, the pastures are looking great and next summer promises to be fantastic.

We just purchased 5 dozen chicks that arrived last Friday, so this spring we will be harvesting lots of eggs for sale to local customers. We hope to purchase another round of chickens in a month or two, once this group gets established, so that we can boost that egg production even more. We also bought 29 ewes and a ram that are also on the property now. And pigs are next on the list, so hopefully one day soon we will be announcing that we have added all natural pork to our lineup. Dusty also has plans to erect a very large greenhouse and a large garden area for raising vegetables for the farmer's market next summer. Did I say we are busy? It is so very nice to have Dusty home, and to have his help to grow our business.

This was supposed to be a short newsletter but it turned out I had much more to share than I thought. The most important thing we want to share is how grateful we are for all of God's many blessings. He chases us down and showers us with such goodness that we find ourselves laughing in delight over His many surprises. One thing we have found in our walk with Him - the more we acknowledge His goodness and blessings the more we receive. Funny how that works. God bless you all.

Lois, Allan, Lisa, Dusty & Family
