Greetings!

Pam Qualls formal head

Thanksgiving is here again - how did the year go by so quickly?  I know many of you are wondering the same thing as your lives have been busy, too.

The beauty of the Thanksgiving holiday for me is the opportunity to slow down for a while to reflect on the many blessings we received from God during the year.  We had many new volunteers join our ministries, bringing their unique gifts and talents and enriching us all.  We had advocates in the community, telling people about the work we are doing and finding new connections to organizations and agencies wanting to work together to better serve those in need.  We had the financial support from grantors and donors to provide and expand services to the community.  Best of all, no matter what difficulties or obstacles we may have encountered along our journey, we had the assurance of knowing that God's blessings would allow us to meet them all in His time and His way.

We wish you a joyous Thanksgiving, filled with reflection on the many ways God has blessed your life.

Grace and Peace

Coming Events

November 20, 9:30 - 12:00 pm
    "Ditty Bag Sorting Day" -
    Preparation and Counting
    of Ditty Bags for
    Distribution to Homeless-    Serving Agencies
Ditty Bags About to Hit the Streets

On Saturday, October 23, UMW members of the Gulf Central District came from all over the five county area to Pasadena Community Church (UMC) for their Annual Meeting.  Along with them came the ditty bags they and members of their churches had stitched, filled, and packed for the homeless and farm worker's children.

Unloading bags

Big thanks go to the youth of Pasadena Community Church who unloaded bags at

the UMW Annual Meeting.

This Saturday, November 20, more volunteers will come together to count the bags and sort them for the homeless-serving agencies who will distribute them over the holidays and throughout the new year.  One group that receives bags, The Pinellas County Coalition for the Homeless, recognizes how important the bags are to the people who receive them - the coalition uses them as incentives for those on the streets to assist in the annual census of people in need.

Thank you to the members of the United Methodist Women, Gulf Central District for your many hours of leadership for the ditty bag project this year!

A Dream Come True

September 14, 2010 became a monumental day in the life of Edith Meek when she was sworn into United States citizenship.

Edith, 42, was born in Missiones, Argentina.  She came to the United States in 2001 on a tourist visa.  While visiting, she met her husband, David Meek, in Hollywood FL.

Thank You CardStaff at the Children of the World Preschool were touched when they received a card from the family of a student.  The card read:

Translation:

"We'd like to thank you very much for all the support, dedication and love you have offered our daughter in her first month of preschool.  She has enjoyed this experience very much.  We thank you all from the bottom of our hearts."
