UMCM New Logo
A Hope and A Future
United Methodist Cooperative Ministries/Suncoast, Inc.
Greetings!

Pam Qualls formal head You may have noticed that you haven't been receiving monthly e-newsletters from UMCM during the first quarter of 2010.  During that time, we've been putting effort and energy into a new website design with, hopefully, more of the information you want and need.

None of us are website designers, so we turned to UM Communications for help with templates.  As we searched for a design that would convey the message of the ministries of our organization, we were drawn to our current choice because of its emphasis on Jeremiah 29:11.

We know that God has plans for each and every one of the people we serve, plans to give them a hope and a future.  We feel blessed that we are able to be a part of those plans, removing obstacles and extending a helping hand whenever we can.

I hope you'll like the new website design.  We'll be continuing to add content, so If there is information you'd like to see included on our site, please don't hesitate to email us and let us know.

Grace and Peace

Pamela Qualls

We are very pleased to welcome two new members of our staff:

Andrea Dummeldinger is our new Director of the PASS After-School Tutoring Program.  Andrea has Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Elementary Education, as well as a Master's degree in Library Science.  Before coming to us, she worked at USF.  You can reach Andrea at andrea.umcm@verizon.net and (727) 442-6881 X6.
Volunteer Opportunities

2009 PASS Summer Camp Volunteers
PASS+ teen volunteers
Are you a high school student who needs volunteer hours for Bright Futures, National Honor Society or IB requirements?  We have some great programs that would allow you to earn your hours in a short amount of time.

Summer Camp at Children of the World Preschool in northeast St. Petersburg meets from 8:30 am to 3:30 pm every day for six weeks.  Volunteer as a Teacher's Aide and help the students with fun activities.  Bring a friend and earn your hours together!

Summer Learning Camp at PASS in Clearwater meets from 9:30 am to 12:30 pm on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays for six weeks.  There will be extended hours every other Thursday to allow the group to take field trips.  Come be a Group Assistant and help the students improve their reading and math skills through hands-on activities.

Of course, you can volunteer even if you don't have service hours to complete!  Working with the children is fun and rewarding for adults, too.  If you'd like to volunteer, or for more information, contact Kitty at kitty.umcm@verizon.net or (727) 442-6881 X5.

Our Condolences

Our sympathies go out to two families close to our hearts on the passing of their loved ones.

Doug Brown, the incredible man who overcame homelessness and then developed and coordinated the Street Ministry in St Petersburg, passed away on February 2.  Our thoughts and prayers go out to his widow, Jackie, and the entire family.  Click here to read more about Doug.

Walter Dry, Jr., the son of our board member, Walter Dry, Sr., passed away on March 18 in New Jersey.  We send all of our love and support to Walter and his family during this difficult time.
