Anona UMC Mission Work Team Helps UMCM to "Clean House" |
Every day hundreds of children, youth and adults enjoy the facilities at our Union Street site and participate in educational opportunities. These events include: After-School Tutoring, English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL), Child Enrichment Activities and our Moms, Pops and Tots group. We are grateful to Anona's Mission Work team for helping us "clean our house" so we can give our very best to God and the community. If you have a mission work team and are looking for a summer project to give back to the community, please give us a phone call. We can use your help! For more information contact Donna at 727-442-6881 ext. #9. |

Our Mission |
| United Methodist Cooperative Ministries seeks to make Christ's love visible and tangible through Service, Education, and Advocacy. |
| Quote of the Month |
"I
am only one. But still, I am one. I cannot do everything, but I can do
something. And because I cannot do everything. I will not refuse to do
the something I can do."

| Picnic Marks Close of School Year |
The Children of the World Preschool marked the close of the 07-08 academic year with its traditional "Family and Volunteer Picnic" on May 17th at the school. Fun, native food and entertainment by the children highlighted the day. The event marked the retirement of Mrs. Barbara Crow, who has served as Director for 20 years. We wish Barbara the very best in her retirement. Our new Director is Ms. Alicia Gomez who has served as our Assistant Director and VPK Teacher for several years. Alicia is committed to the strong academic excellence of the school and reaching out the new families in our community. Alicia will become the Director on August 1. Director Barbara Crow joins Alicia Gomez along with a program helper in UMCM's unique Children of the World Preschool |
| Union Street Summer Learning Day Camp Opens |
June 16th marks the opening of five weeks of Summer Learning Day Camp at Union Street for struggling students. The camp will focus on fun activities involving reading, writing, math, science, and Bible study. During the summer school break, students often loose skills, which are learned during the school year. Summer Learning Day Camp, in its second year, not only seeks to help the student to retain their knowledge, but to excel in other areas. Summer Learning Day Camp is funded in part by the generous gifts from our Annual "Stay At-Home Green" fundraiser. Our thanks go to all of our women and men who contributed to our event by staying at home to enjoy a good cup of Green Tea and sent a donation from Summer Learning Day Camp!
We are committed to "Helping kids succeed in school so they can succeed in life!"
