Kids Fulfill Lenten Spirit at Allendale UMC
This Lenten Season, the youth and children of Allendale United Methodist Church didn't give up candy or sodas. They gave of their time and energy. The kids raised over $300 and donated $200 of that in snacks for UMCM's Summer Camp and $100 in monetary donation.
The staff of United Methodist Cooperative Ministries would like to extend our deepest appreciation and admiration to those generous kids who spread Christ's love.
For more information on on how your groups can make a difference in a child's life please visit our website or click here for a current list of our needs. |

Summer Camp is Here!
UMCM's Summer Camp for bilingual elementary school children is geared towards Reading, Math, Writing and Computers. Many of the participating kids have never before attended a summer camp. The camp runs for 6 weeks beginning Tuesday, May 29. The camp will include field trips and hands-on learning.
Scholarship help is still needed for the kids. We would like to thank all our supporters who are helping to make this first camp a success.

Benefit Workshop a Success
Over 22 people gathered at Heritage UMC to participate in our Author's Workshop to benefit UMCM's Literacy Programs.
We are proud to report that it was a smashing success. Attendees had the opportunity to not only learn about conceiving, writing and publishing children's books, but additionally the world-renowned Dr. Gloria Houston lead them in creating their own narratives.
Dr. Houston guided us as we gathered memories about Grandparents, a favorite holiday or childhood memory. From these we learned how to compose our very own stories and were encouraged to immortalize them for generations to come.
For more information on this workshop or future workshops, please contact UMCM at umcoopm@verizon.net or visit our events page. For a copy of the Workshop Workbook, please call 727-442-6881. |
