The New Normal? (Part 2)

by Dr. John Recine

What are some of the situations that could create a survival circumstance for you?

Natural Phenomenon:

Forest fire                    Snow

Flood                           Tornado

Hurricane                     Freezing rain

Earth quake                 Volcano eruption

Land Slides                   Tsunami

Tidal wave                    Avalanche

Man-made perils and structural failures:

Dam failure

Power outages

Broken Water main

Industrial chemical release into the air

Nuclear power plant failure and release (think Japan and Chernobyl and Three Mile Island)

Rail incident leaking toxins in your neighborhood

Industrial explosion

Crop failures

Civil disturbances

Riots

Looting

Home invasions

Terrorist events

Economic collapse

Run on Banks

Devaluation of the dollar to toilet paper

Food Shortages

Communications failure

Fuel Shortages

Can you think of anymore?

You have to remember that all things are temporary all mechanical devices fail and all men fail and civilizations crumble out of the ashes comes a new beginning and a new normal. For you to be part of the new normal you need to survive the collapse of the old normal.

Considerations are:

What has happened in the past can happen again!

What has yet to occur that could happen based upon practicality?

If you don't live in New Orleans or Memphis or near a major body of water chance are flooding may not be an issue to contend with, look at what's possible, practical and historical as a basis for your critical thinking process.

Consider how long you may have to deal with the emergency, days, weeks, months how long can you adapt to the changing environment until the water recedes and the National Guard arrives with tents food and water or hydration, nourishment and shelter?

How long will you have to wait for help to arrive and can you out last the event until help does arrive?

How will you cope in the day to day as you attempt to address the new problems of daily survival until the new Normal is established or is that the new normal?

If you have prepared and your neighbors have not you run the risk of becoming a survival target for gangs scouring the streets for basic survival needs water, food and shelter. There will be the haves and everyone else, and when you're a have everyone else wants what you have and are prepared to take it at any length.

What you cannot protect or defend successfully you will have to give up gracefully as there is no mid ground between a victor and his victim, you can't be half of either and if you're not the victor you and your family will definitely be the victims if you are unable to protect them.

How vulnerable are you?
