Again quotingMr. Blazquez, "Our Constitution requires the separation of church and state, which has always discouraged our public education system from teaching religion.
However, in December 2001, while Christmas cards, symbols and decorations were being objected to for the first time in American public schools in Georgia, Maryland, Pennsylvania, Massachusetts, Minnesota and Oregon, in an elementary school in Texas, a girl was allowed to give to her classmates an overview and show a video about her Muslim religion.
And in January 2002, a public middle school in San Luis Obispo, Calif., had its students pretend to be warriors fighting for Islam. Another school near Oakland, Calif., also encouraged 125 seventh-grade students to dress up in Muslim robes for a three-week course on Islam.
This arbitrary double standard was applied in the name of Political Correctness following the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks."
I know many will take an issue with my slant, that's okay. As Voltaire said, "I may not agree with what you say, but I'll defend to the death your right to say it."
My request is the same from you that disagree. Rather than a "uniform political discourse"; I prefer an open and honest one. I will stand for your rights to worship or not worship as you chose; I require the same.
Philip Atkinson, in an October 2011 article said this about Political Correctness: "Political Correctness (PC) is the communal tyranny that erupted in the 1980s. It was a spontaneous declaration that particular ideas, expressions and behavior, which were then legal, should be forbidden by law, and people who transgressed should be punished.
It started with a few voices but grew in popularity until it became unwritten and written law within the community. With those who were publicly declared as being not politically correct becoming the object of persecution by the mob, if not prosecution by the state."
It seems that political correctness is embraced by two primary groups. Those believing that it is impolite to hurt other people's feelings and those intent on making illegal to have a differentiate thought to is in opposition too or disagrees with "the establishment".
Thirty years ago, the establishment meant society as a whole. Today, the establishment has been perverted to mean the following groups:
- Conservatives
- Republicans
- Libertarians
- Christians
- Jews
- Heterosexuals
- Supporters of the 2nd Amendment
- Supporters of the Constitution
- Supporters of what I grew up believe that America stood for
- Supporters wishing to return to the ideals and promises of that America
- People that believe the current welfare state and entitlement mentality is destructive to American exceptionalism and liberty
- Home schooling parents
- Home school kids
- Anyone not offended by Merry Christmas
- Anyone not offended by liberty for all - but not at the expense of our own survival
- Anyone that recognizes we are in a war against terrorism
- Anyone that recognizes where that threat is coming from
- Anyone offended by the standards and applications coming from TSA
- Anyone offended by the threats to our own citizens inside our own borders coming from illegal immigration
Those in bold face have already been identified in the media as being identified by law enforcement as potential terrorists and worth watching.
How many of these groups do you belong too?
I got an email the other day that stated: An annual contest is held each year at Texas A&M University calling for the most appropriate definition of a contemporary term. This year's term was: "Political Correctness."
The winner, and a great definition, submitted by a Student who wrote:
"Political correctness is a doctrine, fostered by a delusional, illogical minority, and rabidly promoted by an unscrupulous mainstream media, which holds forth the proposition that it is entirely possible to pick up a piece of dog poop by the clean end."
I don't know if that is a true story or not but I can tell you one thing. The reality is that it is more dangerous than that.
