In last week's My Journey, I shared what God has taught me through scripture about the structure of the family. The verses I referenced gave clear instruction on how the family, God's first ordained institution (organization), should be structured (or organized) in order to be successful.
As I mentioned last week, a business organization cannot survive without each individual within the organization doing their unique and important job. The same is true with the Family Organization. Just like any organization, without clear cut expectations from each person, mad chaos would be the result and a complete failing of the organization.
In the professional realm, these expectations are conveyed through a job description. As with any job description, the more precise and clear the description is, the better the chance the employee will be able to meet the expectations, as there would be less room for error in interpretation.
Within the Family Organization, if we act outside of the nature for which God created us, then our marriage and family will not thrive. We may survive by shear will, but will not thrive. If we do not thrive, then our marriage and family will not be serving its ultimate purpose for which God created it. Remember, God's purpose for marriage is to make us Holy (more like Him) and to bring Him glory. We cannot do this if we are acting outside of our designated roles.
In the passages of scripture that I shared last week, it's clear that God designated the husband as the head of the family. Now, please understand that this doesn't mean as women that we are incapable of leading the home, or that we are inferior to our husbands. Just like in a professional organization, the CFO and CEO are just as important (many times more so) to the success of the organization as is the President. However, they must be doing THEIR job and do it well in order to be successful. If the CEO tries to do the CFO's job, the result would be devastating.
The same is true with the Family Organization. God's design is the only design that will lead to a successful, fruitful, productive and fulfilling marriage and family.
I continued praying and asking God for wisdom and clear instruction for what is meant to be a Godly wife. I didn't want room for interpretation; I wanted specifics. What should my life look like on a day to day basis?
Then I realized that He had already provided me with a job description through scripture. It was there all along in Titus 2: 3-5. The KJV says, "The aged women likewise, that they be in behavior as becometh holiness, not false accusers, not given to much wine, teachers of good things; That they may teach the young women to be sober, to love their husbands, to love their children, To be discreet, chaste, keepers at home, good, obedient to their own husbands, that the word of God be not blasphemed."
Wow, clearly this job description is contrary to what women are being taught today. However, I was determined to take God at His word. I'm so glad I did and I've never looked back.
I'll tell you more next week in My Journey.
