THE MUSEUM STORE

Join us Saturday, Nov. 5, 12 to 2 p.m. for a free artist reception with Taos artist Faith Welsh at the November Shop & Learn Trunk Show. Welsh's jackets, vests, wraps, scarves, and accent pieces will all be for sale. Welsh's work is fired by an interest in creating personal surface: changing color and experimenting with unusual combinations of stitches and fibers to create texture. The free-form techniques she employs result in a singular style that adds spice to the concept of wearable art. Many pieces are enhanced here and there with beading, metallic threads and sequins and are perfect holiday gifts.

Harwood Art in the Schools
kids oli 1
Harwood Art in the Schools brings 22 classes of students from Enos Garcia Elementary School to the museum monthly throughout the school year to learn about art and have an opportunity for artistic expression. This program, now in its third year, works with children from pre-K up to 3rd grade.

"The 3rd graders have become very keen, savvy and sophisticated museum visitors," says Lucy Perera, Curator of Education and Public Programs. "They share insights and ideas about artwork in the Harwood's collection and exhibitions which, in my opinion, is on par with some college level art history majors. We encourage any Harwood friends to experience this program, either as a volunteer or just to see the excitement of this important program in action."

To arrange a visit, please contact the Education
Department at education@harwoodmuseum.org. "Harwood in the Schools" is generously funded in part by New Mexico Arts.
