Shalom!

We were so lucky this week!  We got a sunny and beautiful fall day for our field trip to our friend Kathy Mazur's sukkah. Details and photos of our dancing and lulav waving are below.

Students in grades 3-5 journeyed all the way to Park Street to explore our universe at UW Space Place, where they used clay and their fraction knowledge to create a model illustrating the relative size of the planets.

Finally, our younger students created flags for Simhat Torah (photo above).  We'll put the flags to use this afternoon as we do some dancing and singing in preparation for the joyous holiday that will take place early next week.

Shabbat Shalom and Hag Sameah!

Sukkot Celebration
This week we visited the sukkah of our friend and teacher Kathy Mazur for songs, stories, lunch and crafts.  Each of the students had the opportunity to shake a lulav and to create a fruit-themed decoration for Kathy's welcome tent.  Kathy showed us a short video that she made about how the sukkah was built by friends at a sukkah-raising party she held last week.  The result:  a gorgeous sukkah that includes a paper "people-chain" and a banner quoting our liturgy: "ha pores alenu sukkat shlomecha/[Blessed is God] who spreads over us a sukkah of peace."

Rav todot--many thanks--to Kathy for her hospitality, and to Trista Warrich (& Sahar Mei) Lazimy), Jason (& Jacob) Kobylarz, Ariel Hoffman, and Julie Wilmot for driving and chaperoning!
