Shalom!

Tekiyah Gedolah!  This week, we heard the shofar blasts celebrating the New Year. We learned about teshuvah, the process of repentance and resolving to be the best we can be.  And we've of course, we ate apples and honey!

Throughout the holiday season, learning continues, of course, in every subject!  Swimming lessons began today. Our K-1 students are learning about the sun and moon.  Our oldest students are interviewing their parents in preparation for an autobiography project.  And our third graders are writing reflective essays connecting literature with their own emotions and experiences.

Shabbat Shalom!

Teaching Kids To Apologize

The High Holidays are the perfect time to instruct children in the art of saying 'I'm sorry'-and meaning it, says Margorie Ingall in Tablet Magazine.  Read more here.  (Our kindergarteners and first-graders practiced this skill--very earnestly--this week with Morah Clara.)

Tablet magazine's Yom Kippur page also has a lot of interesting content about the holiday related to food, culture, observances, personal stories and family. Enjoy!
