| Shalom! | |
Today is the last Friday of the school year. We have been continuing to learn and study-but we have also been celebrating all that students have accomplished and the ways they have grown since September.
This Wednesday, families and community members are invited to celebrate the end of the school year at a picnic in Westmoreland Park, 4-8 pm. Details are below. Many thanks to Dan Sidney of our Kehillah committee for organizing this community event. We hope to see you there!
Finally, I hope you enjoy the photos from some recent treats we've had--visits with our grandparents and special friends, and a trip to Old World Wisconsin featuring an hour-old baby lamb!
Shabbat Shalom!

MJCDS Picnic, this Wednesday, 4-8 pm
Families--current and future--and community members are invited to join us to celebrate the end of the school year and the beginning of summer this coming Wednesday night at Westmoreland park (4114 Tokay Blvd). The park is reserved for us the entire day, so feel free to arrive early or stay late.
Please bring a dairy or parve dish to pass. Paper goods, plasticware, and drinks will be provided (and contact Dan Sidney at dsidney@gmail.com if you are excited about providing any of these). There is no rain date, as the park has a shelter; but let's hope for great weather! The picnic is organized by the MJCDS Kehillah Committee. Email Dan with any questions.

3rd/4th Graders visit Old World Wisconsin
|
Third and fourth grade students recently had a chance to experience what life was like for early immigrants in Wisconsin.
They tried their hands at carding wool, weaving, rope-making, cutting flax, and other difficult, but necessary tasks of early farm life. They made friends with "Ted" and "Bear," oxen such as the ones that early settlers used to do the heavy labor required to clear and farm the land.
They unpacked a typical immigrant trunk to see what types of items people brought with them from the "old country," and they explored the original homes of early immigrants, getting a glimpse of the antique furniture, wood-burning stoves, tools and everyday objects used by families of the past. They even had a chance to try out some of the old-fashioned wooden toys that children enjoyed back in the day.
All of the activities were exciting, but the definite highlight of the day was meeting a baby lamb, only one hour old! Todah Rabbah to Alice Schneiderman and Felice Rudin for driving and chaperoning!
