| Shalom! | |
This past week, MJCDS students performed for their families, made yummy sandwiches, and shared their artistic creations at SMART (Sandwiches, Music and ART) night.
Just as exciting--our gym class at the YMCA with Coaches Brian and Gary began! Many thanks to Ariel Hoffman, Julie Wilmot and Alice Schneiderman for helping to get students to class.

| Music, Art and Sandwiches |
SMART night this past Tuesday was a great opportunity for families to have dinner together and to enjoy hearing MJCDS students sing, play recorder and demonstrate their love of art and music.
Our hallways were freshly decorated with student work, both artistic and academic. Art teacher Kalpana Prakash created a colorful display of the students' illuminated manuscripts, self portraits and other artwork.
After partaking of veggies, chips and sandwiches, families got out their cameras and awaited the musical performance. Led by music teacher Helga Swatzak, third and fourth graders sang about the "Cool Bass Clef" and performed songs on their recorders.
Kindergarten, first and second grade students sang about dynamics and the seasons. Their songs, "Forte! Piano!" and "If I could Fly Like a Snowflake," elicited special enthusiasm on the part of performers and audience alike.
Many thanks to Helga and Kalpana for creating this special evening, and todah rabbah to all whose attendance made it so much fun.
