Welch Road work shifts on 9/17

On Monday, September 17, construction work on the Welch Road Utility Project (WRUP) will shift from the inboard side of Welch to the outboard side. The first phase of the project launched last fall has been completed on the side extending from 701-1101 Welch and now will progress along the opposite side of the road nearest The Barn up to 1180 Welch. Welch Road will continue to serve as a one-lane, one way road from Quarry to Pasteur, but there will be new pedestrian detours to access the outboard properties. The new sidewalks on the inboard side of Welch Rd will be open for pedestrian access. New supplemental signage will be installed in the medical center corridor to inform visitors to the campus of any changes in directions.
For vehicular access to 730/750/770 Welch Road, cars should continue to use the driveways from Vineyard Lane. This will remain in effect for one more year, until the completion of WRUP in Fall 2013. Once the WRUP project is completed, Welch Road returns back to a two-lane road going in both directions.

Mark di Suvero's monumental Miwok sculpture recently moved from a site adjacent to the Center for Clinical Sciences Research to the Dean's Lawn at the Stanford School of Medicine without a hitch.
The move from one lawn to another was necessary to enable steps related to the future Stanford Hospital construction.
