B-K Lighting fixtures hold a special significance to 9/11 Memorials across the United States including the newly dedicated memorial in New Jersey called Empty Sky. The memorial is located in Jersey City, across the Hudson from Manhattan.
Working with architect Jessica Jamroz of Frederic Schwartz Architects and lighting designer Hank Forrest of Fisher Marantz Stone, B-K Lighting developed Custom Linear Solid State Uplights to illuminate the concrete and steel memorial honoring 746 New Jersey residents killed in the September 11th attacks in 2001.
The custom fixtures, each measuring 96.5" in length, feature a machined aluminum housing with a 3000K solid-state system with integral driver and patented Anti-Condensation Valve™ for advanced water management. They were designed to capture the names etched along the monument's 30-foot-high rectangular walls that stretch exactly 208 feet, 10 inches - the same length as the former World Trade Center.

"This is truly one of the most significant and poignant projects we've ever worked on," said Douglas W. Hagen, President of B-K Lighting. "As Americans, we are proud to be part of the Empty Sky project. It truly is amazing ... and serves as a reminder that we should never forget the events of September 11th."
The New Jersey Empty Sky Memorial was dedicated on September 10th of this year; that's just one day shy of the ten year anniversary of the 9/11 tragedy.
