Recognizing Academic Distinction -

A New Secondary Honor Roll Program

The Secondary School is introducing a new honor roll program this month, changing the approach from two to three levels of academic distinction. The modified plan was developed by the Secondary Department Chair team and recently approved by the ISC's Leadership Team. Ohio State University - A College Placement Journey

O-H! I-O! For more than 450.000 alumni, this battle cry brings them right back to their college, right back home. Home because this is what Ohio State University students call the Buckeye - and this is how they feel about their college. During my visit last September to The Ohio State University in Columbus, Ohio, I was very impressed to see how a 42.000 college population could feel so much like a small, intimate campus. Students are really attached to their OSU - and proud of their college.

PTA Used Book Fair Contest

On October 6th ISC students in grades 1-5 participated in the 2nd annual PTA Used Book Fair Contest. The objective of the contest was to collect as many donated books as possible so that the PTA can sell them at various school events. Not only will the ISC community benefit by keeping the books circulated and read, but the PTA will also be able to raise much needed funds for their various student focused projects.

However, during October 7th, 10th and 11th, their routine has become even more special. They had special activities prepared by the teachers to celebrate children's day.

The New ISC Green Team Needs You

For nearly three years the International School of Curitiba has actively promoted environmental awareness, with a primary focus on educating students on the virtues of sustainability and environmental citizenship. Sustainability and environmental citizenship is defined as meeting current needs without sacrificing the ability of future generations to meet their own needs by balancing environmental, social and economic concerns. At ISC we are defining it even more distinctly as Living Green, Living Healthy and Living as a Community.
