Can you help?
Last year, Sustainable Sanctuary presented programs to over 400 congregation leaders and members AND helped over 60 congregations to deepen their efforts on behalf of the Earth.
But our work is far from done, and we couldn't do any of it without the financial support of people like you who love the planet.
Please make a donation today. It's easy--just click here:
Thank you so much!
PS: Now is the perfect time to donate
because every dollar you give will be matched by the Shumaker Family Foundation.

Powerful Lessons and God Encounters in Nature
By Carol Meyer, Executive Director, Sustainable Sanctuary Coalition
Canoeing for seven days in the wilderness of the Canadian boundary waters some years ago brought both challenges and incredible spiritual gifts. The pain in my shoulders from unaccustomed paddling and portaging was constant. I feared getting lost, never to emerge from the maze of endless trees and lakes. However, just the willingness to stretch myself with this adventure seemed to bring out a benevolent force eager to bestow gifts. What were these gifts? Read more.

Avila University, Whitfield Hall

Is ecology too controversial a subject to be taught from the pulpit? What's the connection between practicing our faith and taking care of the planet? Why, from a Biblical perspective, should Earth-care be included in our ministry?
Join fellow ministers for lunch and presentations by two respected colleagues that explore the connection between faith, preaching, and Earth-care.
The presenters:
DR. ROBERT MARTIN Associate Professor of Church Leadership and Practical Theology, Saint Paul School of Theology
Topic: What's Faith Got to Do With It? Biblical/Theological Perspectives on Environmental Stewardship
REV. TOM ARE Senior Pastor, Village Presbyterian Church Topic: Presenting the Message Without Getting Burned $30 Registration fee ($15 for seminarians) includes lunch. Please pre-register by Oct. 14. Want to Get Involved?
There are a number of ways you can get involved
with SSC. Here are a few ideas:
- Do you have experience with Microsoft Publisher, Photoshop, or Page Maker? We need help designing fliers, brochures, etc.
- Have you ever done grant writing? We are looking for volunteers with grant writing experience to hep us in our fundraising efforts.
- Like talking to people? Our Outreach Team can always use help in contacting area congregations about our work.
- Just looking for a way to give some of your time? We have several events coming up that we'll need lots of volunteers to work at.
Don't see anything that interests you? Contact us anyway. We can always use more help!
