As many of you know by now, I love Florida! I grew up in Miami, just 15 minutes from a great beach. Now, after I've been living landlocked in the desert for over 30 years, I return regularly to the beach culture of Anna Maria Island. But there is something else very powerful that draws me there.
I have discovered the joy of movement through Nia dance. I never thought of myself as a dancer. Polio as a toddler combined with a hip and knee replacement and lack of a good plan kept a distance between me and dancing.
Until I met Gail Condrick and immersed myself in a series of Nia classes at the Island Yoga Space on Anna Maria Island. I was hooked! Even though I felt totally clutzy and uncoordinated at first, there was something in the way I moved I knew that my body had been waiting my entire life for Nia.
And I wanted more. So I've enrolled in the Nia White Belt Training, October 13-19, 2012 on Anna Maria Island (just north of Sarasota, south of Tampa).
I've discovered something so grand, so spiritually uplifting, so exciting and nurturing that I thought I'd share it with you.
Come join me for the week of October 13-19 for the dance of your life!
But if you can't make it, I encourage you to find a Nia class near you and give it a try. It might just change your life as it has mine!
