If your PC is over 5 years old, you should replace your computer this month

If you like change, then the new Windows 8 operating system is for you. But if you don't like change and you've got a computer that is over 5 years old, or perhaps you've been delaying the purchase of a new PC until the April 2014 Windows XP end-of-support deadline, I suggest purchasing a new computer this month. On October 26 computers with the newly designed Windows 8 will be in stores, and it's likely that Windows 7 will be hard to find preinstalled on a new computer. Windows 7, which was released in October 2009 will be supported until 2020.

Computer hardware that had Windows XP preinstalled was manufactured from 2001-2007 (over 5 years ago). Windows Vista came preinstalled on computers from early 2007 through October 2009. If you're still using a computer with Windows XP the likelihood of hardware failure is very high considering the average life of a hard drive is 5 years.

Computer Techs can help you shop for a new PC and get the best deal. We'll also hook-up your new system and transfer the data from your old computer.

AVG Anti-Virus Free 2013 now available

If you have AVG Anti-Virus Free 2012, this month you should see a prompt on your screen to update to AVG 2013.

When installing the new update pay close attention to each screen before clicking "Next" so that you install the Free version vs. the for-pay or Trial of the Internet Security version. Though AVG will recommend that you proceed to install the for-pay or Trial version, the Free version is sufficient for most home users.

Get your AT&T Yahoo home page back

AT&T changed their att.yahoo.com homepage recently, and we've heard from many people that they dislike the new design.

If you want your old customizable homepage back, type my.yahoo.com in your browser's address bar, then make it your browser's home/start page.

Cheap Unlicensed Computer Repair -

"You Get What You Pay For"

Do you have a friend or neighbor who "knows" computers - perhaps someone who just started fixing computers during their spare time? Do they actively keep-up with the computer industry while fixing computers on a daily basis like we do?

Computer Techs has been in business since 2003, and our technicians have over 20 years computer experience.

Our calls for service have leveled off in the past year-or-so due to an abundance of new inexperienced and unlicensed computer repair people. Similar to hiring an unlicensed contractor to work on your home, it may be cheaper to go with someone else in the short term. However, you can count on Computer Techs to get the job done quickly and correctly, and we'll be available the next time you need service. We are often called to finish repairing what someone else didn't fix correctly.

Thank you for recommending us

We appreciate referrals. If you're happy with our professionalism and expert service, please let others know:

· If you recommend us to a friend or family member, as a way of saying "thank you" for referring us we will reward you with a discount on your next service call. For details please see the details of our $20 referral reward.

· When people search the internet for computer repair, they often search Google, YellowPages.com or Yahoo Local. Please consider leaving a review of our service at one or more of the following web sites:
