Amen.

                    ADULT FORMATION CLASSES

On May 20, you are invited to a session of Godly Play for Adults. Grab a cup of coffee, then come and experience the way that the Godly Play curriculum facilitates thoughts and meditation about the essential stories of the Bible. At this session, Megan Jones will lead us in an exploration of parables. This class will be held in Room 116 as usual.

Coffee class will continue this summer! Beginning June 10, we will conduct intergenerational coffee classes designed to consider the issues that we all have, regardless of age or other interests. More information later.

SURVEY

The St. Paul's Education Commission began their survey of the parish family this past week and we invite everyone who hasn't yet filled one out to do so online by clicking on the link.   This survey is intended for all of St. Paul's family since Christian Education is a lifelong process.  We are looking for feedback regarding our adult programs as well as our child-focused ones.   We welcome your thoughts and ideas and thank you for participating.

Kitchen Update

Dear Parishioners,

Packing the kitchen day - Saturday May 19th - 1:00 p.m.  Have you brought in your boxes? We desperately need more by Saturday dropped off in the parish hall.

Thanks to Sue, Gary, Jean and Sheila for letting me know they will be there to pack. Are YOU coming to help for an hour and a half or so? Please let me know. It will go so much faster if we have another six people to help.

Once the kitchen is packed and equipment is stored in the parish hall we will cover everything with blue tarps. The folks who head up various food ministries have already taken items out of the kitchen that they will need during the remodel.

When demolition begins, there will be NO ACCESS to the kitchen, parish hall pantry and coffee room - none, zip, zero. The construction crew will be putting up barriers to contain the demolition dust. The more we can stay out of their way, the faster they can get their job done. The refrigerator and freezer will be moved to the parish hall and plugged in out there.

Watch this space now for messages from Leta Edwards and Michelle Deister as they begin their fundraising project for this remodel. They are dynamos!

St. Paul's Kitchen Modernization

The kitchen is often described as the heart of the home. Sustenance is fundamental to a family, and food is an expression of love. Here at St. Paul's, it's no different. We come to this place to feed our spirit, and sharing of the Bread and Wine is a tangible reminder of God's love for us.

Our kitchen has been a gathering place, an important centerpiece for service and for forming ties with one another and the wider world. Meals make community-they are a palpable way to show that we care about one another, as well as those outside these walls. Food is a tried and true way of bringing people together.

We serve Wednesday night soup suppers, and cooked meals for families staying under our roof when they have no place else to go. Our kitchen is central to our Chi-Yo fundraiser, which helps fund scholarships for promising students of music as well as St. Paul's music program. Melody of Love is entertainment--and a meal--that raises funds for the Youth Group's mission trip. Renaissance Feast is fun and entertainment--and a meal--that brings us together to support the music program. The Pancake Supper on Shrove Tuesday is a gathering--centered around a meal--as we prepare to enter Lent.

Right now our kitchen is dark. A gas leak and a range hood that doesn't meet code have rendered all of the things described above a lot more difficult, and in some cases, have forced them to be canceled altogether.

We need the help of our parishioners to change this!

We are embarking on a campaign to restore our kitchen to functionality, as well as commercial compliance, so that it can be a tool for our ministry. Your help is needed to raise the funds to get the problems fixed, make the space serviceable, and get it up to code.

We need your help restore this important asset to our parish and our many ministries. Here are some of the ways you can contribute:

  • Fill out the pledge card in the pew. You can pledge a one-time gift, or a gift over time added to your regular stewardship pledge.
  • Are you a member of a parish Guild or group? Think about how the kitchen affects your activities and your mission, and consider how important it is to support this project.
  • Participate in events that will bring us together as a community and raise funds for this project. Watch the bulletin, The Word, and the E-Board for upcoming events!
