Guest Speaker
Pastor Chris Clark
of Children of the Nations
and a celebration of
COTN's 17th anniversary
Chris Clark is the international president of Children of the Nations. He is a fifth-generation missionary raised in Africa. Both Chris and his wife, Debbie, felt called to serve children. Chris served as the director of Youth for Christ for 10 years. Debbie was a teacher. Then in 1995, they were inspired to start COTN after they desperately searched for aid for African children. They found there was no single entity dedicated to assisting children. The program grew from a budget of $300 a month to its current annual budget of $7 million, providing aid to children in the United States, the Dominican Republic, Sierra Leone, Malawi, Uganda, and recently in Haiti and Liberia.

Giesbrecht Work Party set
to assist after neck injury
Taj Giesbrecht suffered a severe neck injury over Labor Day weekend in the pool at Family Camp. Doctors say his recovery has been miraculous. Taj has the use of his arms and legs and physicians expect a full recovery. Still, there is much healing ahead following intense surgery and he won't be at full speed for quite a while.
This Saturday, there will be a work party at the Giesbrecht home to prepare it for winter as Taj cannot do those chores in time for the rains. The event will run from noon to 6 PM, and volunteers are asked to bring yard tools. Experienced grouters are especially needed. The Giesbrecht home is located at 11300 Graytail Pl NW, Silverdale, WA 98383. Find it on Google Maps here.
If you would like to bring a meal to the Giesbrecht family, a Care Calendar has been created.Follow this link. The calendar number is: 123932 and the log in for helpers is: thks |

Sunday School returns
Regular Sunday School programming returned September 9th. If you arrive for worship this week, bring children preschool age and older into the sanctuary before they are dismissed to their children's program offerings.
Also, our numerous Children's Ministry teachers, staff and volunteers were commissioned last week as they prepared for a new year instructing the children. We ask you to pray for them and for their work, and for God to bless this ministry.

Update on David Reed
A 9-year-old child in our PBF family, David Reed, was recently diagnosed with a tumor in his brain stem. David is currently in the ICU in Children's Hospital and the family cannot accept phone calls or text messages. They would LOVE to receive messages of encouragement, which can easily be sent to David online through Children's Hospital's e-greeting service. Find the link here. It's easy, free and they mean a lot to the family.
If you would like to receive regular updates on David's condition go to the Caring Bridge website and register. His site is listed under "davidreed".
David's doctors and family met this week, opting to change his course of treatment from chemotherapy to radiation.
"Radiation is a very hard and arduous process," said his Caring Bridge website. "Even with today's technology and medical advances, it is very delicate. Please pray that the tumor will respond to this treatment, that the surrounding brain tissues remain intact and functioning. Please continue to pray for David's strength and perseverance through this process."
In addition, David now has a breathing tube inserted and this has been a difficult adjustment for him. The family is also taking turns at the hospital now, realizing that they are not enduring a sprint, but instead a marathon of supporting little David.
This week, one way to support the family is to attend a fund raiser being coordinated by their neighbor, Cyndi Freeman. It will be held from noon to 5 PM Saturday at the Crosby Community Club. There will be a hotdog feast, and auction. For questions, call Cyndi at 360-830-9268 or email cyndif@wavecable.com. |

TONIGHT!
Future of Forestry now FREE!
Thursday, September 13th
Doors open at 7 p.m.
PBF Sanctuary
The Future of Forestry concert day is finally here! Eric Owyoung, front man and songwriter, formed Future of Forestry in sunny San Diego, California in 2006. The debut album "Twilight" (Credential Recordings EMI/CMG), produced by Ken Andrews, strongly characterized the band's sound as ambient, melodic rock with beautiful, soaring melodies and intricate layers of sound. Future of Forestry's music is rich and diverse. There is rarely a song that simply fits within the typical 'band sound' of bass, drums, and guitars. The songs are composed with counteractive melodies and intricate rhythms that give them an ethereal quality. Orchestral elements such as strings, timpani, pipe organ, and taiko drum are only a few instruments that lend their voice to such a unique sound. "I consider myself more like a conductor rather than in a band," says Eric Owyoung. "My classical background taught me not to look so much at the singularity of the musician, but at the bigger picture, the music 'scape' that is being created by a collaborative team."
