Update on David Reed
A 9-year-old child in our PBF family, David Reed, was recently diagnosed with a tumor in his brain stem. Members of the PBF staff visited David last Saturday, as well as today, Thursday. They delivered the gifts, cards and candy you have kindly given for the family. They also prayed with David and his parents. For the time being, the family asks that others refrain from calling and texting. We are no longer collecting candy, and we thank all of you who brought it and it has been delivered. We will always be willing to collect cards for David. You can also send a message to David online through their e-greeting service. Find the link here.
David will have surgery again today to insert a shunt to drain fluid from the brain and to prepare his body for other treatments. He will begin a course of chemotherapy treatment on Friday that will continue for a few weeks. Doctors hope the treatment will slow the growth of tumor. The family asks all of us pray for David.
For those of you who have volunteered to assist the family with meals, you may need to wait a while before your talents are required. This week, the family has been spending most of their time at Children's Hospital, and rarely return to Kitsap County. We will certainly contact you as the family's needs change.
Andie, David's aunt, wrote on the family's support site, "We know we are not alone, for you all have been very supportive and caring. We know God alone is guiding us all through this storm, and we Praise Him for all the blessings He has bestowed upon us everyday."

Thanks for food bank help
We were so thankful for each person who donated items to our food bank last week! We are now well supplied with key items like chicken noodle soup, spaghetti sauce, raviolis, canned vegetables and especially macaroni and cheese! Already, those seeking help have benefitted from your generosity. After doing a thorough sort of items, there are just a few items that could be added, including: canned chicken and tuna, canned fruit, vegetable-based soups, and baby food.

 | Kendall Campana, center, prepares for baptism with Christina Law and Pastor Andy Chinn
|
Campana Baptized Sunday
Kendall Campana, 16, was baptized Sunday at Silverdale Waterfront Park by Youth Pastor Andy Chinn. Assisting in the baptism was Kendall's small group leader, Christina Law.
"It was a really amazing experience and I am really glad I did it," Campana said.
One reason she braved the chilly Sound water rather than a more typical baptism in the sanctuary was to encourage non-Christian family members to attend the baptism. She said family and friends have been amazed at the way she has changed since she has accepted Christ and she hopes by attending it would bring others to the church.
"Now I'm not trying to hide my faith anymore; I am embracing it," she said. "This is life changing."
