ATTENTION GRADUATES
We are looking for YOU!

Every year, PBF celebrates its graduates whether they are completing high school, technical school, earning degrees at various colleges or completing an apprenticeship program. Whether you just earned your high school diploma through a home school program, finally completed your nursing program to become an RN, or successfully tested for a GED, we would like to share your good news with the congregation.

We will host a slideshow with the graduates' photos including a childhood photo and a current photo as well as any career or education plans they would like to share. Current photos don't have to be the traditional senior photo. Tasteful shots of key memories or moments of their educational experience are also welcome. If you want, share a photo of winning a track meet, rebuilding an engine in an auto certification program or taking water samples to earn a bachelor's degree in science.

We would like to honor all our graduates including those in private schools and completing home-school programs so please help.

Email Heidi Evans with the following:

  • Graduate's name
  • City where graduate lives
  • Degree or certificate earned
  • School or program
  • Graduate's phone number
  • Graduate's email
  • Parents' names and contact information if the student is 18 or younger
  • Childhood photo
  • Current photo
  • State whether you would be willing to share this information on the web.

Confused? That's okay. Just call us during office hours, Tuesday through Friday 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at 360-692-6549.

Give 2 Sundays this summer and make a HUGE difference
We are seeking families to volunteer this summer to greet those attending worship. If you could volunteer your time for just two Sundays, it would make a huge difference and allow us to continue to be gracious hosts to all those here to worship. We would love for children to participate with their parents, grandparents or guardians. Email Machele Cave or call the office at 360-692-6549 to choose your weeks and preferred service.

Ladies, help us build a powerful fall seminar

Women's Ministry is working on a fall seminar that will have breakout sessions. In order for us to provide a class listing that is relevant and needed, we need your input.  Ladies, please take time to fill out the brief survey to help us understand which classes are most valuable to you. It should be a wonderful time of learning from each other and seeing how God is at work in the hearts of women in the community.

Abby Ryan earns state history honor
Abby Ryan and part of her 3-dimensional history display.

Abby Ryan, a seventh-grader and longtime member of the PBF Family, and her cousin and teammate, Briana Ryan, earned fourth place in the state level of the National History Day competition. The girls spent months researching and building a three-dimensional display on Women's Suffrage. The final project was titled "Battle for the Ballot: Washington Women Inspire the Nation to Fight for Their Rights."

"I learned all the different things they (women) had to go through to get the vote. They were arrested and force fed." Abby said.

Abby said she learned that women had the vote when Washington was a territory and then lost it with statehood. The women were strong advocates of Prohibition and used this passion to gather support for the right to vote.

"I learned how to do all my citations and annotations using MLA format. My teacher says they use that format in college and high school and that will be a big advantage (for me). And I learned how to do interviews and ask thorough questions," Abby said.

The pair also won the Washington State Historical Society (WSHS) Award. They will get a personalized WSHS museum tour this summer and their exhibit will go on display at the museum. They will share a $100 prize. Abby is the daughter of Jim and Becky Ryan.

Has your child done something amazing you would like to share with the congregation in Life of PBF? Please email us here. With the end of the school year, we know there are many kids doing amazing things who deserve some praise.
Join us to send our Youth to Canada and San Francisco

The youth are making two mission trips this summer, one to Canada and another to San Francisco. To raise funds, they will host an auction and dinner June 2nd. RSVP via Facebook here.

They are seeking donations for the auction, and they would love you to think creatively about what you could donate. Do you have a skill or time you could give? Would you be willing to take a family on a ride in your boat for an afternoon,or offer a weekend in your cabin? Can you bake an exceptional item perfect for a Fourth of July celebration? Would you weed a yard for 2 hours? Do you have something nice you were thinking of putting on Craigslist and never got around to it? The youth would love to talk to you.  Email Christina Law here.
