Cubs pruning

Cub Scouts from New Hartford's Pack 19 removing invasive Multiflora Rose at the NHLT's Alfred Sabolcik Property to prepare for planting native shrubs that will better support wildlife.

With the support of a grant from the Natural Resources Conservation Service of the USDA, the Land Trust is working to improve wildlife habitat in the old sand and gravel extraction area (about 12+ acres)on this property. This includes removing invasive shrubs such as Multiflora rose, Barberry and Autumn Olive, planting native shrubs and trees along the stream, and planting native, warm-season grasses.
