New Health Center Seeking Donated Items & Dollars

MAHEC, Mission Hospitals, and Buncombe County are excited to be working together to open a medical center in the Big Ivy Community of Barnardsville. The MAHEC Family Health Center at Big Ivy will serve the rural community by providing full spectrum health care and County services. The goal is to improve the overall health and well-being of this underserved area. There are a large number of rural elderly patients and medically isolated patients.

 

The Health Center plans to open in early spring, but it is in need of donations. If you or your office has any donations (see wish list) please contact Emily Diznoff. We are set up as a not-for-profit and will happily accept cash donations as well. Tax deductions apply for all donations. Click here for list of items. 
WCMS and BCMSA Endowment Announces the Opening of the 2012 Grant Cycle Health-Related Projects in Buncombe County Sought

Upcoming CMS Phone Conference for Physicians

Medicare and Medicaid EHR Incentive Program Basics provider call will be held on Thursday, March 29, 2012, 3:00 pm - 4:30 pm. The call will provide an overview for program eligibility, how to get started and how to report meaningful use as well as provide other resources to help physicians and their staff who are participating in the incentive program. This is the last year for providers to receive maximum Medicare incentive payments. Registration should be available shortly.

The Foundation is WCMS' non-profit, charitable arm. The Foundation is well-respected and nationally recognized for its leadership and innovation in addressing issues of access to quality health care, disparities in health, and wellness and prevention for people in WNC. We are committed to involving both community AND physicians in this work.  

 

Our flagship program is Project Access, a comprehensive, volunteer primary and specialty physician network providing access to healthcare at no charge for low-income, uninsured residents. Another key program is the WNC Interpreter Network, which addresses disparities in health due to linguistic barriers.
