NATIONAL NEWS

AMA Action Alert: SGR Cuts Looming on March 1

Time is running out! Physicians face a cut in Medicare reimbursement payments on March 1 due to the flawed sustainable growth rate (SGR) formula. How can you help send a powerful message to Congress to repeal the SGR?

Call Congress today at (800) 833-6354. Physicians need to ask their representative and senators: Are you prepared to repeal the SGR before March 1?

Every member of Congress must hear the message from physicians that passing another short-term fix to prevent a 27 percent Medicare payment cut before March 1 is not the fiscally responsible solution. Encourage them to support a conference committee report that includes full repeal of the SGR.

A congressional conference committee has started meeting to discuss solutions to the flawed SGR. Make your call today. Call (800) 833-6354.

The Foundation is WCMS' non-profit, charitable arm. The Foundation is well-respected and nationally recognized for its leadership and innovation in addressing issues of access to quality health care, disparities in health, and wellness and prevention for people in WNC. We are committed to involving both community AND physicians in this work.

Our flagship program is Project Access, a comprehensive, volunteer primary and specialty physician network providing access to healthcare at no charge for low-income, uninsured residents. Another key program is the WNC Interpreter Network, which addresses disparities in health due to linguistic barriers.
