LOCAL NEWS

It's Official! WCMS Members Approve 2012 Board Members

The WCMS membership has officially approved the new 2012 Board of Directors.  Thanks to our 90th voter, Dr. Michael LeCroy, for making the vote official and meeting our required 10% quorum (in total, we received 149 yes votes, one no vote).  2012 promises to be an exciting year for both the Association and Foundation so stay tuned!  Many thanks to our outgoing Association President, Dr. Rob Fields, and outgoing Foundation chair, Dr. Steve Buie, for their outstanding service in 2011.  They will formally hand over the gavel to their successors (Drs. Cindy Brown and Brent Jeffries) at our upcoming Annual Celebration at Highlands Brewery on February 18, so please be sure to join us

It's Project Access Pledge Time!
Project Access™ is excited about entering its sixteenth year and we are ready to start receiving physicians' pledges! We have sent out faxes and emails with physician pledge forms, so please keep an eye out for those. If you would like to have them resent, contact Jana Kellam at jana@mywcms.org and she'll be happy to get them back out to you right away. WCMS staff has been working diligently with the Foundation Board of Directors to make many needed changes to the Project Access program. The Foundation is WCMS' non-profit, charitable arm. The Foundation is well-respected and nationally recognized for its leadership and innovation in addressing issues of access to quality health care, disparities in health, and wellness and prevention for people in WNC. We are committed to involving both community AND physicians in this work.

Our flagship program is Project Access, a comprehensive, volunteer primary and specialty physician network providing access to healthcare at no charge for low-income, uninsured residents. Another key program is the WNC Interpreter Network, which addresses disparities in health due to linguistic barriers.
