The Buncombe County Medical Society and the Western North Carolina Medical
Society are the physicians' voice advocating for the health of the medical
profession, the health of the patient, and the health of the
community.
The purpose of Western North Carolina Medical Society (WNCMS)
is: To strengthen the voice of WNC physicians in advocating for the health of
the medical profession, the health of the patient, and the health of our region
To inform, educate and prepare physicians for rapidly occurring changes in
health care at national, state, and local levels
To share legislative and policy information and advocate on behalf of
physicians in areas of mutual interest
To share available resources in areas of mutual interest
To promote physician-to-physician communication and dialogue in an open,
honest and safe environment
Buncombe County Medical Society
(BCMS) Corporation is the thriving, 800-plus professional association of
Buncombe County (BC) area physicians. It is a chartered component medical
society of the NC Medical Society and the AMA. BCMS Corporation works to further
the professional interests of its members and to improve conditions for the
practice of medicine in our area.
The Foundation is BCMS's non-profit,
charitable arm. The Foundation exists to address issues of access to quality
health care and disparities in health for people served in Buncombe County. We
do this through collaboration, education, advocacy, innovation, research, public
policy, and fundraising. We are committed to involving both community AND
physicians in this work.
The Alliance is comprised of physician spouses
and exists to be a catalyst for the health and unity of the physician family
community through opportunities for learning and social interaction, and to be a
catalyst for a healthier community. Our vision statement is "Healthy physician
families for a healthier community."
