Greetings!
Exciting things are happening in the Chorus as we prepare for our upcoming holiday concerts in December. We've just concluded our program advertisers campaign and our annual pecan fundraiser kicks off next week! Proceeds from both of these efforts go towards ensuring that we provide top quality concerts each season.
It's never too late to help support the chorus, you can find out more about our fund raisers or make your donation through our website at www.chapelhillcommunitychorus.org.

| Celebrating 30 Years: Member Reflections |
Dr. Eugene Bozymski began singing with CHCC 29 years ago after learning about the Chorus from a colleague. We've asked Gene to share some of his favorite memories of the group below.

Why did you begin singing with the Chorus?
Gene: I have always enjoyed singing and have sung in academic choirs and church choirs for many years. I learned of the CHCC from a colleague and joined the chorus in the second year of its existence. At that time Victor Recondo was the conductor and the choir had perhaps thirty singers. I found it extremely relaxing and totally different from my other activities. It allowed me to meet many many wonderfully talented people from many different disciplines. One has to be amazed at the musical ability and knowledge in our area.
What is your favorite piece of music performed with the Chorus?
Gene: Singing Mozart's Requiem with the Duke choir and the NC Symphony in Duke Chapel following 9/11 had to be my favorite concert and favorite piece of music. I must admit that with my many years of training by the Jesuits I really do enjoy any piece in Latin and am particularly partial to Masses and Brahm's Mass in G Minor stands out. I know this is hokey, but it is difficult to sing that Mass because the music is so beautiful that it brings a lump to your throat.
What value do you believe the chorus brings to the Community?
Gene: Anytime a group of people come together to accomplish a project or bring joy to others has to be a special and enjoyable time. The concerts that we present at Christmas, the spring and summer allow everyone to have a pleasant relaxing and I hope an entertaining evening.
Do you have a favorite memory you'd like to share about your time in the chorus?
Gene: Our 2008 spring concert ,Carmina Burana, and singing in the Sistine Chapel.
Anything else you'd like to share with us regarding your time with the Chorus over the past 30 years?
Gene: Watching the chorus grow and develop and singing more challenging pieces, and of course the 9/11 concert.
Also, our conductors have been outstanding. Chip Stamm came to us from the Notre Dame Glee Club and did an excellent job. I will have to admit that I was concerned when he left, but Dr. Sue Klausmeyer, our present conductor, took over and she is absolutely a joy and a talented and outstanding conductor. |
